Debate, MUN and Public Speaking

Since 2013, (before Two Roads was even born), I have been coaching a Model UN team. Recently, due to student interest, we have added Debate and Mock Trial. Our teams are focused on learning, and non-competitive growth. (But we have won awards too!)

Model UN

Open to students in 7th-12th grade, Model UN is focused on learning research skills, international relations, and negotiation skills. While less formal than debate in some ways, it requires a lot of acaedemic prowess. We have class on Friday mornings, and attend conferences - but conference attendance is not required. Students who are in debate are also welcome to join us for Model UN.

Mock Trial

Ever wonder what it would be like to be in a court room? Mock Trial is a simulation of a real trial. The official CT competition is in December each year, but we practice year round. Open to grades 6th-8th, Mock Trial is great for students who are interested in becoming a lawyer, enjoy playing a role, or otherwise enjoy researching cases. (It is a lot of fun!)

Speech and Debate

We offer both middle school and high school debate and attend various tournaments throughout the year. Formal debate is a skill both in logic and argumentation, as well as research, public speaking and more! High school debate meets online on Monday evenings (note that most tournaments are online), and middle school debate meets before Mock Trial.
